“From Under the Tree” – Children’s Songs for Spring and Summer is the first album by Whispering Leaves, a mother and son duo who have individually worked with children for many years.

After studying music years ago, Kirsteen Freer has brought musical enjoyment to many through her varied work as a piano teacher, accompanist, therapist and community choir director. In latter years she has moved on to incorporate her love of music with her love of
nature and small children, now running her own outdoor Kindergarten, “The Elves and Fairies Woodland Nursery” and “Edmondsham Forest School”, where songs and rhymes feature strongly throughout the day.

As the children spend their time outside day after day, gaining confidence in their ability to survive the ever increasing pressures of the modern day world, experiencing all kinds of weather, watching the seasons come and go and studying the local flora and fauna, their joy and appreciation of the natural world around them increases. This is enhanced by the use of songs and rhymes at every opportunity, songs about the emerging Spring flowers and carpet of bluebells, the chorus of bird song, the appearance of caterpillars and butterflies, and the orchestra of grasshoppers and bumble bees. So many exciting, beautiful signs of nature calling to them from the surrounding woods and fields! “From Under the Tree” brings together some of these songs for you and your children to enjoy together.

Lee Dahan has a background in drama and music. He has worked with the Ticklish Allsorts Show for many years as a children's entertainer and in recent years may have been spotted busking folk songs in local towns. He grew up surrounded by music and now brings his love of music and storytelling to this collaboration.
